BTS Tops 61 Countries with "Run BTS" at No. 1 for the New Year

The group BTS has topped global charts for the new year, according to their agency Big Hit Music on January 2.

"Run BTS," a track from BTS's anthology album "Proof" released in June 2022, ranked No. 1 on the iTunes "Top Songs" chart in 61 countries and regions worldwide, including Brazil, Finland, and Mexico, as of 6 a.m. on this day.

"Run BTS" is considered a song that encapsulates the group's identity and bold spirit. Big Hit Music stated, "The ARMY fandom began voluntary streaming to mark 2026." The agency explained that fans' determination to remain with the members as a complete group ahead of the new album release this spring led to the song's resurgence on the charts.

The New York Times recently reported, "BTS's rise and dominance have significantly influenced the popularity of K-pop over the past decade," adding, "The group's new album and tour will be a decisive moment that revitalizes the entire industry."

BTS recently announced through a handwritten letter that they will release a new album on March 20 and embark on a large-scale world tour.
