The group BTS has topped global charts to start the new year, according to their agency Big Hit Music on January 2.

The track "Run BTS" from BTS's anthology album "Proof," released in June 2022, ranked No. 1 on the iTunes "Top Songs" chart in 61 countries and regions around the world, including Brazil, Finland, and Mexico, as of 6 a.m. on this day.

"Run BTS" is considered a song that encapsulates the group's identity and bold spirit. Big Hit Music stated, "The fandom, ARMY, began voluntary streaming to mark the arrival of 2026." The agency explained that the fans' determination to continue supporting the members ahead of the group's upcoming full-length album release this spring led to the song's resurgence on the charts.

The New York Times recently reported, "The rise and dominance of BTS have had a major impact on the popularity of K-pop over the past decade," adding that "the group's new album and tour will serve as a pivotal moment that revitalizes the industry as a whole."

BTS recently announced through handwritten letters that they will release a new album on March 20 and embark on a large-scale world tour.
