Promotion Runs Until February 28
KT announced on January 2 that it will launch a promotion to provide additional roaming data and other benefits for the winter vacation and overseas travel season.
All customers who subscribe to the "Shared Roaming" plan will receive up to 6GB of additional data. The promotion runs until February 28. Specifically, the plans are as follows: ▲6GB (4GB basic + 2GB extra) for 33,000 won ▲12GB (8GB basic + 4GB extra) for 44,000 won ▲18GB (12GB basic + 6GB extra) for 66,000 won.
The "Y Shared Roaming" plan, which is exclusively for customers aged 34 and under, offers the same benefits. The data options are: ▲7GB (5GB basic + 2GB extra) for 19,800 won ▲13GB (9GB basic + 4GB extra) for 26,400 won ▲19GB (13GB basic + 6GB extra) for 39,600 won.
For customers traveling to China or Japan, the "China·Japan Budget Roaming" plan provides an additional 0.5GB of data and 30 minutes of voice calls. During the promotion period, customers can use 3GB of data and 30 minutes of voice calls for 25,000 won.
Since last month, KT has expanded the list of countries covered by its "Safe Roaming" service, which applies domestic call rates, from 64 to 70 countries. The six newly added countries are three in Eastern Europe (Bosnia, Slovenia, Slovakia), two in Asia (Bangladesh, Pakistan), and one in Africa (South Africa).
The Safe Roaming service allows customers to use voice calls at the domestic rate (1.98 won per second) and send SMS, long messages, and multimedia messages at 22 won, 33 won, and 220 won per message, respectively, even while abroad. This service is automatically applied to all customers visiting the eligible countries, with no separate application required.
KT also plans to run a customer appreciation program from March to August, following the end of this promotion. Kim Younggeol, Senior Vice President and Head of Service Product Division at KT, said, "We planned this promotion to provide tangible benefits during a time of increasing demand for overseas travel," adding, "We will continue to strive to offer even more benefits to customers traveling abroad in the future."
