Busan Office of Education Launches Winter Vacation Online Joint Curriculum

For General High School First- and Second-Year Students from January 2 to 22
629 Students Participate in 40 Courses

The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Kim Seokjun) is operating the "Winter Vacation Online Joint Curriculum" for first- and second-year students at general high schools (including autonomous and special-purpose high schools) from January 2 to January 22, coinciding with the winter break.

The online joint curriculum has been established to expand students' subject choices and support customized academic planning based on their career paths and aptitudes. It offers advanced and interdisciplinary subjects that are difficult to open at individual schools, as well as subjects that have not been offered due to low enrollment, all through online classes.

This winter vacation joint curriculum features a total of 40 diverse courses, including Artificial Intelligence Mathematics, International Economics, Science Project Research, and Big Data Analysis. A total of 629 students from 86 high schools in the Busan region are participating.

The classes are primarily conducted in real-time interactive online sessions. For some subjects, offline classes are also provided for assessments and experiential learning, allowing students to gain a balanced learning experience that encompasses both online and offline formats.

The completion results of the online joint curriculum are recorded in the students' school records. Busan Online School serves as the hub school, providing administrative support for course creation and operation, as well as for processing completion in the NEIS (National Education Information System).

Superintendent Kim Seokjun stated, "With the full implementation of the high school credit system, the importance of student-tailored curricula is growing even more significant. I hope this winter vacation online joint curriculum offers students a meaningful opportunity to experience a variety of learning options and broaden their subject choices according to their career paths."
