Increased Applicant Interest Compared to Previous Year
Sahmyook University announced on January 5 that it had closed applications for the 2026 regular admissions, receiving 2,849 applications for 423 available spots, resulting in an overall competition rate of 6.74 to 1.
By admission type, the General Admission (Ga group) received 1,286 applications for 156 spots, recording a competition rate of 8.24 to 1. The General Admission (Na group) had 967 applicants for 176 spots, with a rate of 5.49 to 1. The General Admission (Da group) saw 252 applicants vying for 44 spots, resulting in a rate of 5.73 to 1.
The department with the highest competition rate was the Department of English Language and Literature (Ga group), where 35 applicants competed for a single spot, resulting in a rate of 35 to 1. This was followed by the Department of Counseling Psychology (Ga group) at 20 to 1, the Department of Art and Design (Ga group) at 18 to 1, and the Department of Computer Engineering (Na group) at 15 to 1.
The practical exams are scheduled to begin with the Department of Physical Education on January 8, followed by the Department of Art and Design on January 11, and the Department of Music on January 21. The announcement of successful applicants is set for January 29.
