The West Sea Coast Guard Agency announced on January 2 that it implemented safety management measures from December 31 to January 1 in preparation for potential maritime accidents caused by the increased number of vessel passengers and visitors to coastal festivals during year-end and New Year’s sunrise events.

During this period, a total of seven vessels were deployed for sunrise events on board ships within the agency's jurisdiction, with 4,600 passengers participating-a 49% decrease compared to the previous year.

The West Sea Coast Guard Agency mobilized four aircraft, 31 patrol vessels, and 258 officers in areas with high security demand and large crowds, maintaining a state of readiness for safety management and emergency situations. The agency successfully completed its mission without any safety incidents until the conclusion of the events.

A representative from the West Sea Coast Guard Agency stated, "Passenger vessels and popular destinations that attract large crowds during the year-end and New Year period have a higher risk of casualties in the event of safety accidents, so we focused our safety management efforts on these areas," adding, "We will continue to do our utmost in the new year to ensure a safe sea where the public can enjoy themselves with peace of mind."
