Gyeongnam Governor Park Wansu Starts New Year by Focusing on Residents' Safety ... "Not a Single Resident Should Experience a Gap in Medical Service"

Park Wansu, Governor of Gyeongnam Province, began the first day of 2026 by focusing on the safety of local residents.

On January 1, Governor Park welcomed the first sunrise of the new year together with about 1,600 residents at Cheonseongsan in Yangsan.

He delivered his New Year's greetings, saying, "2026 will be the first year in which the happiness of our residents will truly take off, building on the economic achievements so far. I hope that the powerful energy of Cheonseongsan will bring happiness to every household and that all your wishes will come true."

Afterward, Governor Park immediately visited the Regional Emergency Medical Center at Yangsan Busan National University Hospital.

There, he inspected the emergency medical response system, checked the operation of the emergency room and the hospital's capacity to accommodate patients, and listened carefully to feedback from the field.

He also reviewed whether the operation of the Gyeongnam Province Emergency Medical Situation Room, which won the grand prize at the 2025 Government Innovation King of Kings Competition, was functioning effectively on site.

In addition, he encouraged the medical staff who remained on duty during the holiday period.

Governor Park said, "On behalf of the residents, I thank all of you who are quietly fulfilling your duties from the very first morning of the new year, even as you set aside time with your families."

He continued, "Yangsan Busan National University Hospital is a key emergency medical hub for eastern Gyeongnam. Since emergency rooms are especially prone to overload during the holidays, I ask you to do your utmost to provide swift and seamless care so that not a single resident experiences a gap in medical service."
