Keimyung University (President Shin Ilhee) has proven its solid standing as a regional university by recording the highest-ever competition rate following the close of applications for the 2026 regular admissions.

This figure marks a significant increase compared to the previous year (2025), when the competition rate was 7.93 to 1.

By department, the highest competition rate was recorded in the 'Da' group’s College of Pharmacy, where 367 applicants competed for 6 spots, resulting in a rate of 61.1 to 1. In the 'Ga' group, the Department of Urban Planning recorded a rate of 16.3 to 1, the Department of Environmental Engineering 15.5 to 1, the Department of Christian Studies 13.0 to 1, and the Department of Chinese Classics Education 12.7 to 1.

In the 'Na' group, the Department of Chinese Language and Chinese Studies recorded a competition rate of 14.9 to 1.

In the 'Da' group, the Department of Practical Music and Sound Engineering recorded 15.0 to 1, the Department of Pre-Medicine 14.9 to 1, the DigiPen Game Engineering Department 13.3 to 1, and the Department of Korean Language and Literature 12.6 to 1.

Even amid expectations of fluctuating competition rates due to the reduction in the scale of regular admissions at regional universities, Keimyung University saw a consistent increase in competition rates across multiple departments, indicating heightened competition throughout the regular admissions process.

The university attributes this trend to recent achievements such as the expansion of AI-based education, the establishment of advanced digital infrastructure, interdisciplinary education, and the creation of a practice-oriented learning environment, all of which have influenced applicants’ choices.

In particular, Keimyung University was the first in the country to simultaneously establish both Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Software-Defined Network (SDN) infrastructure, and the expansion of AI-integrated education across all academic fields has been highlighted as a factor strengthening the university’s competitiveness.

Do Dalhyeon, Dean of Admissions at Keimyung University, stated, “With the early admission registration rate reaching 99%, the number of students carried over to regular admissions was greatly reduced, which in turn led to a decrease in the number of available spots. Despite the reduced quota, the number of applicants remained steady, resulting in the highest competition rate ever recorded for regular admissions.”

He added, “Educational innovation centered on AI and digital transformation, along with a stable educational infrastructure, have served as key factors in enhancing the university’s competitiveness.”

Meanwhile, the practical skills and performance test for the 'Da' group’s arts and physical education track will be held on the 21st, and the successful candidates for all departments will be announced before the 30th.
