Ongoing Dispute Over Allegations and Repeated Statements of Position
Request for Assistance from Korean Embassy While Staying in Germany
Amid ongoing controversy surrounding actor Lee Yi-kyung’s personal life, it has been reported that the individual who raised the allegations has asserted their version of events and even sought assistance from overseas diplomatic missions.
On December 31, the accuser, identified as A, disclosed the details of their contact with the actor and their own position via social media. According to A, their communication began with Instagram direct messages and later moved to KakaoTalk, during which they claim inappropriate conversations took place. While A acknowledged participating in some of the early conversations, they explained that over time, the content escalated to a level they found difficult to handle.
A stated, “The fact that I participated in some sexual conversations does not mean I consented to the entire scope of the exchanges.” They added that at a certain point, they decided they could no longer continue the conversation and chose to cut off contact and disclose the issue externally. A also emphasized that there was no demand for money or blackmail when submitting materials to the actor’s agency. They did admit to mentioning the possibility of compensation in a private conversation with an acquaintance, but clarified that this was never conveyed or demanded externally.
A further claimed to have received a message from Lee Yi-kyung after the incident, describing it as a message based on their previous acquaintance. A argued that the actor’s subsequent claim of not knowing them at all was inconsistent with the content of their earlier communications.
A is currently staying in Germany and stated that they have informed the Korean embassy there of the situation and requested assistance. They also requested that, should an investigation proceed, the relevant materials be thoroughly and properly examined, asserting that the truth will ultimately come to light.
This controversy began in October when A posted claims regarding Lee Yi-kyung’s personal life on social media, along with some related materials. The released materials included conversations and photos involving certain individuals, which caused the issue to escalate. Subsequently, A initially claimed that the materials were generated using artificial intelligence, but later retracted that statement and insisted their claims were true, further fueling confusion.
In response, Lee Yi-kyung’s agency announced that they have initiated legal action against A on charges of blackmail and defamation. They stated that the complaint is currently being processed and that the facts will be determined through an official investigation. Lee Yi-kyung also made a direct statement, making it clear that he intends to pursue legal responsibility regardless of whether the accuser is overseas.
As a result of the controversy, Lee Yi-kyung has stepped down from the MBC variety show “Hangout with Yoo?” The production team explained that, given the spread of issues related to his personal life and the nature of the program, they determined it would be difficult for him to continue and recommended his departure. Lee Yi-kyung had appeared on the show for about three years.
