Police Receive 11 Cases Related to "Kim Byungki Allegations"... Seoul Metropolitan Police to Directly Investigate 10 Cases Yonhap News

On the 31st, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced that out of a total of 11 cases related to allegations against Assemblyman Kim that have been filed with the police so far, 10 cases will be assigned to the Public Crime Investigation Unit for investigation.

The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency has taken over the case regarding allegations that Assemblyman Kim used a complimentary hotel voucher from Korean Air from the Yeongdeungpo Police Station. The agency has also received the case from Seocho Police Station regarding allegations that Kim's eldest son, who is suspected of passing on information learned while working at the National Intelligence Service to his father's aides, was reported.

The case involving suspicions that Kang Sunwoo, an aide to Assemblyman Kim, received 100 million won from City Councilor Kim Kyung during the 2022 local elections and discussed it with Assemblyman Kim, has also been assigned to the Public Crime Investigation Unit.

On this day at 2 p.m., the Public Crime Investigation Unit summoned Kim Hanme, head of the Citizens' Action for Judicial Justice, who filed a complaint over Assemblyman Kim's "Coupang meal" allegations. This relates to suspicions that, ahead of the National Assembly audit last September, Assemblyman Kim met with then-Coupang CEO Park Daejun and others and attempted to influence personnel decisions regarding his former aide who had joined Coupang.

However, the case involving allegations of Assemblyman Kim's second son's admission to Soongsil University and employment solicitation will continue to be investigated by the Dongjak Police Station in Seoul, as the investigation has been ongoing since last September.

Assemblyman Kim, who was the first floor leader of the ruling party under the Lee Jaemyung administration, resigned from his position as floor leader the previous day after a series of allegations surfaced regarding preferential treatment for his family and condoning illegal campaign funds for party nominations.
