On December 31, Kakao announced the publication of the "2025 Kakao Group Technology Ethics Report," which records the group's technology ethics practice activities over the past year.

Previously, in July 2022, Kakao launched the Kakao Group Technology Ethics Subcommittee, the first of its kind among domestic companies, to review and develop technology ethics across the group. The subcommittee collaborates monthly with technology ethics leaders from major affiliates to identify and implement technology ethics tasks, taking into account each company's service environment and technological characteristics.
This year's report details the subcommittee's and each affiliate's technology ethics governance and best practices, focusing on key issues such as the safety and trust of technology, transparency, inclusivity and fairness, personal information protection and security, and literacy for user empowerment.
This year, the subcommittee developed the "Digital Child and Youth Protection Checklist" to establish a protection system for minors. The checklist was created with reference to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) and UNICEF's Digital Child Rights Impact Assessment (D-CRIA), and comprehensively incorporates the Korea Communications Commission's self-inspection standards for youth protection officers.
In addition, to enhance employees' technology ethics literacy, Kakao produced a "Kakao Group Technology Ethics Training" video and encouraged affiliates to utilize it as well. The report also covers activities such as publishing the monthly online "Tech Ethics" magazine to communicate technology more easily and transparently to users, participating in domestic and international technology ethics forums for external engagement, and collaborating with global organizations.
Lee Sangho, Chair of the Kakao Group Technology Ethics Subcommittee, stated in the foreword, "With a sense of responsibility to create a future that benefits everyone through technology, we wanted to share Kakao's concrete efforts to ensure that technology contributes to the sustainable development of people and society." He added, "The subcommittee will continue to work with each affiliate to ensure that Kakao Group's technology remains technology for people, and will consistently put technology ethics into practice."
