Jeongeup City to Operate "Visiting Culture and Education Program"

Jeongeup City in North Jeolla Province will operate a "Culture and Education Program That Directly Visits Villages" in nine eup and myeon areas for two months from January to February next year.

According to the city on December 31, this program was designed to provide women living in remote rural areas with opportunities for healthy leisure and hobbies, thereby invigorating their daily lives.

Based on the results of a demand survey for the Mobile Women's Culture Center conducted prior to the full-scale launch of the project, the city finalized 12 courses that were most preferred by residents.

A total of about 270 women are expected to participate in the program. To ensure convenience for residents, accessible public facilities such as senior welfare centers and cultural centers in each area will be used as educational venues.

The detailed program includes cultural and artistic activities that residents can enjoy together, such as Go-go Janggu, Jeongeup Nongak, line dance, choir, and Nanta. The city has hired professional instructors for each field to enhance the quality of education and will provide substantial instruction through regular classes held once or twice a week.

Through this initiative, participants are expected to experience a sense of achievement, and opportunities for communication among residents will naturally expand. To ease the financial burden on citizens, all tuition fees will be fully waived. However, depending on the nature of each program, some material costs may need to be covered by the participants themselves.

The city plans to use this program to meet the cultural needs of women in rural areas who may be easily marginalized during the winter season, while also laying the foundation for building a local women's network.

A city official stated, "We will continue to discover educational programs in which residents can directly participate and feel the benefits, making Jeongeup a rural city where life is enjoyable."
