Baekgyeong Distillery Co., Ltd. (CEO Jung Changyun) received the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award at the '2025 Tourism Venture Day' awards ceremony held on December 23.
'Tourism Venture Day' is an event co-hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization, established to discover and encourage outstanding venture companies that have contributed to the growth and advancement of the tourism industry through innovative business models. Baekgyeong Distillery was honored as a '2025 Outstanding Tourism Venture Company' in the Early Tourism Venture category, recognized for its modern interpretation of traditional liquor and the high potential for developing tourism products.
Baekgyeong Distillery produces premium traditional liquor using agricultural products grown in Sejong City and its proprietary fermentation starter technology, and has continuously introduced business models that expand traditional liquor into tourism content. In particular, the success of 'Baekgyeong Han Jan,' a 200ml small-cup product developed for tourists and campers, played a significant role in this award. 'Baekgyeong Han Jan' is praised for its convenience-enjoyable without a separate glass-and its Korean design, establishing itself as a new tourism souvenir for foreign visitors to Korea and Millennials & Gen Z.
Additionally, Baekgyeong Distillery is focusing on technological advancement to secure future growth engines. In October, the company was selected for TIPS and is accelerating research on 'non-thermal room-temperature distribution technology,' aiming for completion by 2027. Through this technology, Baekgyeong Distillery plans to overcome shelf-life limitations and maintain the original flavor of fresh liquor even at room temperature, dramatically enhancing its competitiveness in the global export and tourism souvenir markets.
Jung Changyun, CEO of Baekgyeong Distillery, stated, "Winning the Minister's Award is especially meaningful as it recognizes that traditional liquor has the potential to become a representative tourism content for Korea, beyond being just an alcoholic beverage," adding, "We will strengthen both technological and brand competitiveness based on investment and R&D, and grow into a global K-liquor brand."
Baekgyeong Distillery is accelerating its entry into overseas markets such as Singapore, Hong Kong, and Germany, and from next year, it plans to expand its distribution networks in the United States and Europe in earnest to solidify its position as a global K-liquor brand.
