The Financial Services Commission announced on December 30 that Chairman Lee Eogwon has recommended Sungshik Kim, Attorney at Law at Law Firm One, for appointment as the new President of the Korea Deposit Insurance Corporation.
The Commission explained that Kim, the nominee, has accumulated over 30 years of experience as a judge and attorney, building extensive expertise in legal work such as advising and litigating on matters related to financial companies.
It added that, with his extensive practical experience and professional knowledge in the designation and bankruptcy procedures of insolvent financial institutions and the financial industry as a whole, Kim is considered the right person to strengthen the legal stability of the deposit insurance system and enhance the soundness of the fund, which are the main responsibilities of the Korea Deposit Insurance Corporation. Thus, he has been recommended for appointment as President.
