Songpa District Raises Disability Allowance for Low-Income Residents by 50,000 Won per Month

The rehabilitation treatment room, located on the fourth floor of the Songpa-gu Health Center, provides various rehabilitation services to vulnerable groups, including people with disabilities. In addition to pain treatment and exercise therapy, since March of this year, the facility has undergone environmental improvements and now offers one-on-one customized manual therapy. The number of users increased by approximately 23%, from 2,600 last year to 3,200 this year, demonstrating a high level of satisfaction.
On this day, Mayor Seo inspected the operation of the rehabilitation treatment room and spoke with users and staff on site, emphasizing, “Customized services provided in the field are more important than anything else for the health and independence of people with disabilities.”
Since the launch of the 8th popularly elected administration, the district has been implementing various welfare policies to support the rehabilitation and independence of people with disabilities. Notably, the disability allowance for low-income individuals with disabilities has been increased by 50,000 won per month, in addition to the existing amount based on disability type, to ease their financial burden and help stabilize their basic living conditions. The district also operates a driving practice center and rehabilitation treatment room for people with disabilities, focusing on supporting mobility and health improvement.
In addition, free transportation services and home-visit rehabilitation for people with severe disabilities are provided to alleviate mobility challenges for those who have difficulty visiting the health center and to support intensive treatment.
The district plans to continue strengthening customized welfare policies to improve the quality of life and support the independence of people with disabilities. Mayor Seo stated, “Welfare for people with disabilities is not just about support, but about helping them achieve independence and participate in society,” adding, “We will continue to listen to voices in the field and develop policies that provide practical help.”
