A woman in her 50s died after being run over by her own car in a parking lot, having left the vehicle in reverse gear as she got out.
According to the Gimhae Jungbu Police Station on December 30, at around 3:42 p.m. on December 29, a woman in her 50s, identified as Ms. A, was run over by her own sport utility vehicle (SUV) in the parking lot of an apartment complex in Samjeong-dong, Gimhae, South Gyeongsang Province.
Ms. A was rushed to the hospital following the accident, but ultimately passed away.
At the time of the incident, the vehicle's gear was in reverse, and the car had rolled backward until it stopped against a parking stopper.
However, it was found that as Ms. A was opening the trunk to unload items, the rear wheels of the vehicle went over the parking stopper and the car ran over her.
The police are reviewing closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from the scene and questioning witnesses to determine the exact circumstances of the accident.
