Sec, a company specializing in electronic beam-based core materials and components, announced on December 30 that it has signed a single sales and supply contract worth approximately 4 billion KRW (about 4 billion won) for the construction of a non-destructive inspection system facility with a military unit. This is the company's first order contract disclosure since its listing. According to the disclosure, the contract amount corresponds to 7.47% of its recent sales.
Sec has been pursuing its non-destructive inspection system business utilizing linear accelerators since 2017, and has achieved rapid sales growth, recording an average annual growth rate of 136% from 2021 to last year. As of the third quarter of this year, sales amounted to 8.6 billion KRW, and the order backlog stood at 12.2 billion KRW.
A representative from Sec explained, "A linear accelerator can generate X-rays with about 100 times higher energy than industrial X-ray inspection equipment, so it is mainly used for non-destructive inspection of defense products. Since last year, exports have also begun in earnest, and we are rapidly expanding into the global market."
The representative added, "We plan to expand the application of linear accelerators beyond traditional non-destructive inspection to include flash radiotherapy devices and equipment for pest and sterilization treatment of cultural assets. Since we already possess proprietary electronic beam technology, we are capable of entering various industries."
