Responding to Increased Waste Disposal Demand Due to Population Growth
Pyeongtaek City in Gyeonggi Province announced that it will completely overhaul its household waste collection and transportation system to respond to the increasing demand for waste disposal resulting from urban environmental changes and population growth.
This is the first change to the existing system since the integration of Pyeongtaek City, Songtan City, and Pyeongtaek County in 1995. The overhaul aims to establish a more comprehensive collection network and enable a faster response to cleaning-related public complaints.
The main change is to expand and reorganize the household waste collection and transportation service areas from the current five zones to nine zones, thereby strengthening accountability and improving efficiency in each region.
The revised operational system will take effect on January 1 of next year. Pyeongtaek City plans to strengthen on-site inspections and its response to public complaints in order to minimize initial confusion resulting from the complete change of cleaning zones.
For more details about the zone reorganization, please contact the Cleaning Administration Team of the Resource Circulation Division at Pyeongtaek City.
