World Vision, an international relief and development NGO led by President Cho Myunghwan, announced that it is actively carrying out the "H-Nature Garden" project in collaboration with Hyundai Engineering & Construction, focusing on the "Uijeongbu Hillstate Geumoh The First" complex. This initiative aims to address the climate crisis and conserve biodiversity for future generations.
The "H-Nature Garden" project is a collaborative effort involving World Vision, Hyundai Engineering & Construction, and specialized institutions. It utilizes landscaped areas within apartment complexes as hubs for biodiversity conservation, with the goals of expanding habitats for endangered plant species and raising environmental awareness among residents.
Hyundai Engineering & Construction has created a specialized garden within the Uijeongbu Hillstate Geumoh The First complex, featuring native and endemic plants of Korea such as Abeliophyllum distichum and Corylopsis coreana, as well as endangered species. This project goes beyond simple aesthetic landscaping by connecting fragmented urban ecosystems and providing stable habitats for endangered species, making it highly significant. In addition, the garden will be continuously maintained to ensure it is not just a one-time event, and the survival rates and ecological changes of the planted species will be closely monitored.
World Vision is also operating educational programs linked to the newly created garden. In particular, during the second half of 2024, biodiversity education and garden monitoring activities were conducted for residents at the Hillstate Wonju Prestige H-Nature Garden, which was established in 2024. These programs provided valuable opportunities for residents to enhance their awareness of biodiversity and develop environmental sensitivity in their daily lives.
Cho Myunghwan, President of World Vision, stated, "The H-Nature Garden is a meaningful starting point that helps children experience nature in their living spaces and grow into future stewards of the environment." He added, "We will continue to work closely with Hyundai Engineering & Construction to ensure that ecological spaces within Hillstate complexes are successfully established and to develop a sustainable model for biodiversity conservation."
