Donghoon Kim of Namyangju City Council Receives 'Namyangju Legislative Award' for Citizen-Recognized Commitment to Public Welfare

Highly Praised for Citizen-Focused Legislative Activities and Effective Government Oversight

Donghoon Kim, a member of the Namyangju City Council (representing Byeollae-myeon and Byeollae-dong) in Gyeonggi Province, received the '2025 Namyangju Legislative Award' from the Namyangju Legislative Monitoring Group on December 29.

The Namyangju Legislative Award is given to outstanding council members through a fair and objective evaluation process in which citizens themselves monitor the overall legislative activities of city council members, such as administrative audits and budget reviews. The award carries significant meaning for the realization of local democracy.

Assemblyman Kim has consistently emphasized field-oriented legislative activities and communication with citizens. He received positive evaluations for his effective questioning and logical oversight during the 2025 administrative audit and budget review.

This year in particular, he actively promoted legislation focused on citizens' livelihoods, including the amendment of the 'Ordinance on Priority Purchase of Local Products in Namyangju City' to strengthen the competitiveness of local small and medium-sized enterprises, the enactment of the 'Ordinance on Promoting Night Tourism in Namyangju City' and the 'Ordinance on Creating an Open Tourism Environment' to revitalize local business districts and tourism. He also contributed to addressing local issues through in-depth remarks on revitalizing the Byeollae commercial area, resolving overlapping regulations, and repealing the Han River Water System Act.

The Legislative Monitoring Group stated, "Assemblyman Donghoon Kim has deeply analyzed local issues and presented practical solutions through legislation. He has earned strong trust from citizens for his responsible legislative activities, which go beyond simply raising issues to actually driving institutional improvements."
