The National Research Council of Science & Technology (NST) announced on December 30 that the core technology developed by the 'Plasma Equipment Intelligence Research Group,' which was carried out through the Convergence Research Group Project, has been successfully transferred to the industry.
This technology transfer was made possible through the joint marketing support project for government-funded research institutes, which is currently being promoted by NST. The Korea Institute of Fusion Energy developed a 'simulation source for analyzing low-temperature plasma equipment,' which has been transferred to KWT Solution, a company specializing in plasma equipment.
The transferred technology is a precision plasma simulation technology that can be applied to semiconductor, display, and energy processes. The research group structured the technology as a package that can be immediately utilized, reflecting the actual needs of the industry. Unlike previous cases where research outcomes remained at the level of 'papers' or 'sources,' this technology is characterized by being directly applicable to industrial sites.
KWT Solution acquired the simulation technology for approximately 400 million won. With this acquisition, the company plans to secure the latest plasma analysis models and utilize them for process development and equipment performance enhancement. The ability to optimize processes based on precision simulation is expected to further strengthen the company's technological competitiveness.
CODA, a professional technology commercialization agency, participated as the implementing organization in the technology transfer process, providing practical support and acting as an intermediary.
Going forward, NST plans to actively discover the achievements of convergence research group projects in which companies and government-funded research institutes collaborate, and to continuously expand technology transfer and commercialization, focusing on national strategic technologies and future industries.
