The Gyeonggi Garden Culture Expo, jointly hosted by Gyeonggi Province and local cities and counties since 2010, is the nation's first garden-focused expo. It has been enhancing local brand value by spreading a garden culture that integrates ecology, environment, and culture.

Jarasum, registered as Gyeonggi Province's second local garden in October 2025, is an ecological and cultural complex space. Securing the expo is the result of the county's fifth attempt.

Gapyeong County proposed the theme “43, Jarasum Garden, Become a River and Flower, Become a Garden,” outlining plans to create 43 gardens, including citizen gardens, artist gardens, and carbon-neutral gardens. The county also highlighted its strengths in linking the expo with existing tourism festivals such as the Flower Festa and Jazz Festival, as well as programs utilizing the Jaranauru Caf? on the Bukhan River.

During the evaluation, Jarasum’s natural scenery, garden infrastructure, and transportation accessibility received high marks. The county was also recognized as a capable host for presenting administrative plans such as establishing a dedicated team, flood response measures, and transportation strategies.

Gapyeong County plans to maximize the synergy between the local garden and the garden expo through this event, with the goal of developing Jarasum into a national garden. This is expected to realize the vision of Gapyeong as a “garden city” and contribute to the vitalization of the garden industry and the local economy.

Seo Taewon, Mayor of Gapyeong County, stated, “The Jarasum Garden is more than simple landscaping; it is a garden where ecological restoration and cultural content are combined. With Jarasum selected as the venue for the 2027 Gyeonggi Garden Culture Expo, we will maximize the synergy between the local garden and the expo to elevate Jarasum to a national garden.”
