Sharing Outstanding Cases Nationwide, Exploring Strategies for Mutual Growth
1,500 Participants This Year, Expanding to 2,000 Next Year

A Multi Living Lab seminar addressing strategies for mutual growth and development between universities and local communities was held at Dongseo University.

The Glocal University Project Group at Dongseo University (President Jang Jeguk) announced on the 30th that it recently hosted the "Regional Coexistence Multi Living Lab Seminar" in the small screening room on the 4th floor of the New Millennium Hall, aiming for the joint growth of the university and the local community.

The event began with a report on the main achievements of the Dongseo University Regional Coexistence Multi Living Lab and a presentation of future operational plans. In the subsequent expert lecture session, leading Living Lab experts representing each region shared vivid field cases to benchmark outstanding nationwide examples: Professor Kim Eungho of Keimyung University (Gyeongbuk region), Professor Kim Minsu of Dongguk University (Seoul region), and Professor Choi Ilhwan of Daejeon University (Chungcheong region) served as speakers.

Currently, Dongseo University operates a total of 10 programs, including the "Barrier-Free Living Lab" (Professor Lee Hyeondong), in collaboration with the Busan Citizens Media Center, as well as the Dongseo University-Dong-A University joint competition-type Living Lab. This year alone, more than 1,500 local residents and students participated, achieving tangible results by directly finding solutions to local issues on site. Building on this success, the university plans to expand the number of programs to 11 and increase the number of participants to over 2,000 next year.

The diverse achievements of the competition-type Living Lab jointly conducted by Dongseo University and Dong-A University have drawn attention. Major projects include: ▲Generation Empathy Living Lab through Pickleball (Professor Kim Seonggyeom), ▲Media Art-Based Emotional Sculpture Installation and Tourism Product Operation Project (Professor Park Changhwan), ▲Creating Child-Safe Villages (Professor Lim Hyuk), ▲Evergreen Musical Choir (Professor Oh Sejun), ▲Performing Arts Seed Project (Professor Jo Giwang), ▲"Asia in Busan" Created by Food and People (Professor Park Hyeyoung), ▲Cheolma Senior Living Lab - The Most Beautiful Moment of My Life (Professor Yoon Jongjin), and ▲On-the-Go Cultural Delivery (Professor Choi Jongseok), among others, all of which are being actively promoted.

Professor Lee Hyeondong (Department of Computer Engineering), who oversees the Regional Coexistence Multi Living Lab program, stated, "This was an opportunity to confirm the potential for success of the Living Lab model, which combines university resources with local community issues," and emphasized, "We will continue to create a model case of a glocal university that leads substantial improvements in quality of life, responds to the crisis of local extinction, and drives innovative growth by communicating organically with local residents."
