Pyeongchang Tourism and Culture Foundation to Advance City Tour Program
The Pyeongchang Tourism and Culture Foundation’s Pyeongchang City Tour, operated in connection with the KTX high-speed rail, attracted a total of over 4,000 visitors and concluded successfully on December 20.
The Pyeongchang City Tour is a tourism product designed to improve accessibility for tourists using public transportation, centering on Pyeongchang Station and Jinbu (Odaesan) Station, both KTX stops. The tour allows visitors to explore Pyeongchang’s major tourist attractions in a single day.
From the outset, the tour drew attention as a KTX-linked tourism product and has consistently attracted demand, especially from tourists in the greater Seoul area. In 2025, a total of 4,111 people participated in the Pyeongchang City Tour, which operated more than 200 times. Of these, 1,230 used the train-linked product, 2,612 used the bus product, and 269 participated in the resort-linked city tour.
This year’s city tour was organized and operated as “Pyeongchang One-Day Course 1” and “Pyeongchang One-Day Course 2,” grouping Pyeongchang’s tourist resources by theme, based on previous experience operating in the southern and northern regions.
“Pyeongchang One-Day Course 1” connects Gwangcheon Seongul Cave, Yukbaek Majigi, Cheongoksan Kkaebi Village (lunch), the Stone Culture Experience Center, and the Olympic Market, offering a route that encompasses nature, hands-on experiences, and traditional markets. “Pyeongchang One-Day Course 2” focuses on nature, history, and healing content, including the National Baekdudaegan Arboretum, the National Joseon Dynasty Annals Museum, Odaesan Wild Vegetable Village (lunch), and the Balwangsan Cable Car.
This year’s city tour went beyond regular courses by flexibly operating resort-linked city tour products during local festivals and events such as the Zinnia Festival, Byeolbyeol Sangsang Pyeongchang Market, and Eco Light. This differentiated tourism content drew attention, especially with its package that allowed visitors to enjoy festivals, accommodation, and sightseeing all at once, thereby increasing tourist satisfaction. Additionally, the focus on peak season operations enhanced overall efficiency.
A representative from the Pyeongchang Tourism and Culture Foundation stated, “The KTX-linked city tour is a leading public transportation-connected tourism product that has improved accessibility to Pyeongchang. Next year, we plan to move away from the previous standardized Friday and Saturday operations and offer a differentiated tourism experience unique to Pyeongchang, with enhanced themes and seasonality.”
