On December 30, Hongcheon County, Gangwon Province, announced that Seokshin Jeong, a resident of Hongcheon-ro 6-gil in Hongcheon-eup, has been awarded the Presidential Citation in recognition of his contributions to promoting national symbols.

This award for contributions to the promotion of national symbols was carried out as part of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s plan for the second half of 2025. Seokshin Jeong was recommended by Hongcheon-eup and ultimately selected as the recipient of the Presidential Citation.
Since 2005, Seokshin Jeong has personally distributed the national flag and led flag-hoisting campaigns on every national memorial day, consistently fostering patriotism among local residents and promoting national symbols. His sustained efforts are credited with playing a significant role in spreading the culture of flag-hoisting throughout the community.
In particular, to mark the 80th anniversary of Liberation Day, he actively promoted a flag-hoisting campaign and took the initiative to install flag stands for commercial buildings at his own expense, leading the way in raising awareness of the meaning of liberation and the value of national symbols within the community.
An official from Hongcheon County stated, "The long-standing dedication and voluntary actions of Seokshin Jeong have provided an opportunity to reflect on the importance of national symbols," adding, "We will continue to work to spread the culture of national memorial days together with our residents."
