Entire Mugae?Samgye Section of National Route 58 in Gimhae Opens ... Western Area Traffic Relief Expected

The entire section of National Route 58 from Mugae to Samgye in Gimhae-si, Gyeongnam, opened on December 29.

The "National Route 58 Mugae-Samgye Bypass Road Construction Project," led by the Busan Regional Construction and Management Administration, connects Eungdal-dong to Samgye-dong over a total distance of 13.76 kilometers, with a total project cost of 480.1 billion won.

Construction began in March 2008. After the partial opening of the Juchon Interchange to Samgye Interchange section in October 2024, the entire route was completed and opened 1 year and 2 months later, connecting Juchon to Eungdal and marking the completion of the project.

Gimhae-si expects that, with the opening of the entire main road between Mugae-dong and Samgye-dong, traffic volume that was previously dispersed onto city roads will now be absorbed by the bypass.

Additionally, the city anticipates a significant improvement in vehicle flow in the western region, with reduced traffic congestion during commuting hours and enhanced travel safety.

A city official stated, "With the continuity of National Route 58 secured, traffic throughout the western area of Gimhae, including near the Seogimhae Interchange (IC), will become much smoother. Improved access to Tongyeong is also expected to enhance local logistics conditions."
