"No Fact-Checking Request Made"... Chagawon Takes Legal Action Over "MC Mong Affair Rumors" Report

Chagawon, Chairman of Piac Group and One Hundred, announced that he will take legal action against the media outlet that reported rumors of an affair with singer MC Mong.


On the 29th, attorney Yeon Jeheon of the law firm Kwangjang, legal representative for Chairman Chagawon, issued an official statement, saying, "Media outlet A published the full real name of Chairman Chagawon in the article and video titles on its website and YouTube channel, and distributed content that identified Chairman Chagawon as the married woman's affair partner of the well-known celebrity Shin Donghyun (MC Mong), without verifying the facts or providing the right to respond."

He continued, "The media outlet in question, in the process of writing, publishing, and distributing the article and video, did not request any fact-checking or guarantee the right to respond from Chairman Chagawon, who is a direct stakeholder and party to the matter. By publishing Chairman Chagawon's real name in the article and video titles, they distributed content on websites and YouTube channels accessible to the general public, identifying Chairman Chagawon as the married woman's affair partner of the well-known celebrity Shin Donghyun (MC Mong)."


He added, "Not only is the content of the report completely untrue, but it is also highly provocative and sensational, causing irreparable harm to Chairman Chagawon's personal rights, honor, and social reputation, as well as severely violating his right to privacy."


The legal representative stated that the actions of writing and distributing the article and video constitute a violation of the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, etc. (defamation), and said, "Accordingly, our law firm has already initiated civil and criminal legal action against media outlet A and all individuals involved in the writing, posting, and distribution of the article and video for violating the relevant laws."


He further stated, "All facts will be clearly revealed through future legal proceedings, and we request that unnecessary reports that could cause irreparable harm to Chairman Chagawon, his family, and the various corporations he manages be refrained from."

Previously, on the 24th, a media outlet reported allegations that Chairman Chagawon had an inappropriate relationship with MC Mong and that, during this period, Chairman Chagawon gave 12 billion won to MC Mong. In response, both Chairman Chagawon and MC Mong immediately refuted the claims, stating, "The KakaoTalk conversation was fabricated," and "The affair rumors are groundless."
