The police announced on the 29th that they will be managing crowd safety at year-end and New Year events such as bell-ringing ceremonies and sunrise gatherings.
The police will deploy 11,945 officers and 11 broadcast lighting vehicles, focusing on 106 locations, including eight key management areas designated by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, as well as other sites where crowds gather annually or repeatedly. For an additional 281 locations, they plan to conduct coordinated patrol activities.
The police reviewed safety management plans with relevant agencies, including local governments. On the day of the events, they will operate joint situation rooms (CP) with local governments and share information on dangerous situations in real time to enable a coordinated response.
In particular, for the Bosingak event in Seoul, which is expected to attract 100,000 people, 1,573 personnel, including 18 police mobile units, will be deployed. Major roads such as Jongno, Ujeongguk-ro, and Cheonggye Buk-ro will be completely closed from 6 p.m. on the 31st until 7 a.m. on the 1st.
At major event venues such as Achasan in Seoul, Gyeongpodae and Jumunjin in Gangwon, Ganjeolgot in Ulsan, and Homigot in Pohang, police control lines will be set up in vulnerable areas including slopes, breakwaters, cliffs, and walking trails to prevent safety accidents.
Yu Jaeseong, Acting Commissioner General of the National Police Agency, stated, "We will do our utmost to ensure on-site safety management so that the public can participate in year-end and New Year events with peace of mind."
