Welcoming the Sunrise at Ocheon Green Island
On January 1, 2026, Suncheon City will host a vibrant New Year’s sunrise event for citizens to welcome the Year of the Fire Horse at Ocheon Green Island. The celebration will take place from 6:30 a.m. to 8:00 a.m., before sunrise, together with citizens to greet the new year.

This sunrise event, marking the 'Year of the Red Horse,' will feature a variety of citizen participation programs, including writing wishes for the Red Horse, experiencing traditional games such as Jegichagi, Tuho, and Yutnori, as well as a character photo zone with Lumi, Ddungi, and Palmangi.
Additionally, there will be a pre-event performance and a video sharing New Year’s wishes, followed by a powerful 'Daebuk Drum Performance.' The shouts of citizens expressing their hopes will blend with the sound of the drums to inspire hope for the new year, and a dynamic dance performance at sunrise will add even more excitement.
In the Year of the Fire Horse, Suncheon City will prioritize citizen safety as its top slogan, working closely with related organizations such as the Suncheon Police Station and Suncheon Fire Station to ensure on-site safety management is the highest priority.
A city official stated, "It is meaningful to welcome the energetic new year of 2026, the Year of the Red Horse, together with citizens in Suncheon, the city of Palma," adding, "Through this sunrise event, we hope that all citizens, like the legendary Red Horse, will step forward vigorously to achieve their individual wishes and work hard throughout the year for the future of Suncheon."
