On December 29, Seoul Hanyang Country Club (hereinafter referred to as Seoul Hanyang CC) held a donation ceremony at Goyang City Hall as part of the "Hope 2026 Sharing Campaign," delivering 100 million won to Goyang City to support underprivileged neighbors in the region. The event was attended by Gapju Cho, Chairman of Seoul Hanyang CC, Donghwan Lee, Mayor of Goyang City, and other related officials.
This donation is not a one-time sponsorship but part of Seoul Hanyang CC’s long-standing tradition of social contribution. Since 1995, Seoul Hanyang CC has donated funds every year to help disadvantaged neighbors in Goyang City, with cumulative donations reaching approximately 2.343 billion won as of this year. The consistent giving over the decades is seen as a reflection of the management and members’ commitment to coexisting with the local community.
At the ceremony, Chairman Gapju Cho stated, "The social responsibility of companies becomes even more important during difficult economic times. Although it may be a small gesture, I hope this donation brings comfort and hope to the neighbors of Goyang City."
He further announced, "Even after the completion of the clubhouse reconstruction in the first half of 2026, we will continue to expand our community contribution activities."
Seoul Hanyang CC’s social contribution efforts extend beyond the local area to a nationwide scale. Every year, the club has donated over 100 million won per incident to support disaster victims, and this year, it provided an additional 260 million won to aid recovery from wildfires and heavy rainfall damages.
The club is also dedicated to nurturing future talent. Since 2023, Seoul Hanyang CC has operated a "Golf Scholarship" program, providing annual support of around 200 million won. This program helps promising young golfers from financially challenged backgrounds to focus on their training, thereby laying the foundation for the development of Korean golf.
Donghwan Lee, Mayor of Goyang City, expressed his gratitude, saying, "I deeply appreciate Seoul Hanyang CC for its dedication to the local community by donating large sums every year. The funds received will be used with care to ensure that neighbors in welfare blind spots can have a warm winter."
Meanwhile, Seoul Hanyang CC, which opened in 1964, is recognized as a prestigious golf club with the highest level of history and tradition in Korea. Recently, it has continued to demonstrate its commitment to noblesse oblige through the construction of a new clubhouse and a variety of social contribution activities.
