26 Short Films and Advertising Videos Created with AI Screened and Expanded into Academic Research
AI Integrated Throughout the Entire Creative Process in Visual Design, Film, Webtoon, and Photography & Media
The College of Fine Arts at Keimyung University (President Shin Ilhee) is leading changes in the field of art and design education by publicly showcasing the results of integrating generative artificial intelligence (AI) into the entire creative process through various formats such as academic presentations and film screenings.
By operating classes that utilize AI, the college simultaneously presented research achievements and actual works, suggesting the potential for expanding its educational model.

The Department of Visual Design held the "053 AI Short Film Festival" at Oogeuk Theater, Daegu's only independent film screening venue, on the 11th.
At this festival, a total of 26 works were screened, including 19 short films produced using generative AI and 7 advertising videos completed through liberal arts courses.
It is notable that the results of applying AI throughout the production process in art and design education were released outside the campus.
The screened works were the outcomes of sophomore major courses and liberal arts classes, spanning a wide range of visual expressions from live-action films in genres such as horror, science fiction, drama, and documentary, to 3D animation and works in Disney and Japanese animation styles.
Some works featured dubbing in Korean, English, and Japanese, experimenting with the potential for multilingual content production.
The Department of Visual Design is gradually operating courses that range from partially incorporating generative AI to fully utilizing it.
The outcomes from these classes have been expanded into academic research, mainly focusing on AI-UX design projects, and were recently presented as six research papers at the academic conferences of the Korean Society of Design Science and the Service Design Society.
These studies were speculative design projects based on generative AI technology and its application services, addressing cases of services that utilize AI-trained data such as voice, video, and virtual characters.
Research topics included: video call and voice message experiences with posthumous AI virtual characters based on KakaoTalk; user experiences perceived as "reincarnation" through data synchronization after a robot dog's funeral; the "audio diary" experience of generating and listening to music from diaries; and a face-to-face AI virtual character service designed to improve kiosk usability for middle-aged users.
These projects received the Encouragement Award at the 2025 Korean Society of Design Science Conference for a study proposing interview experiences with virtual corporate characters created using generative AI.
Professor Jang Sungyu and Adjunct Professor Lee Hyungmin, who led the classes, stated, "Generative AI has reduced the time required for research and repetitive tasks, making human creative judgment in areas such as story composition and directing even more important." This course has now been running for three years.
In addition, the Departments of Film Animation, Webtoon, and Photography & Media are also operating education programs that integrate generative AI into the entire creative process, tailored to the characteristics of each major.
The Department of Film Animation utilizes AI from pre-production planning to production, post-production, effects, and sound, enhancing the completeness and expressive potential of works. These achievements have led to awards at the Korea Student Advertising Competition (KOSAC) and screenings at graduation film festivals.
The Department of Webtoon uses AI programs from the planning stage through scene direction to the final output, combining creative retouching to further improve the quality.
The Department of Photography & Media has established an educational model that connects concept development based on generative AI with photography and media content planning practice, expanding into entrepreneurship and practical work.
Kim Yunhee, Dean of the College of Fine Arts at Keimyung University, said, "Generative AI is not just a tool to enhance the efficiency of art education, but also an opportunity to expand students' ways of thinking and the creative process itself. Moving forward, we will continue to create a creative environment where technology and art coexist harmoniously through student-led, practice-oriented education."
