Sunrise Event to Welcome the Year of the Red Horse in Yeongcheon
Traditional Performances, New Year's Rituals, and Community Activities Planned

Special Photo Zone and Calligraphy Events for New Year Memories
Yeongcheon City (Mayor Choi Kimoon) will hold a sunrise event under the theme "2026 Byeongo Year, The Red Horse Runs! Yeongcheon Leaps Forward!" at the Yeongcheon Battle Memorial Observation Tower area on January 1 to celebrate the New Year.
The event, hosted by the Yeongcheon Youth Sangwoo Association, will begin with side events at 6:00 a.m., followed by traditional Korean percussion performances, a large drum performance, a ritual to pray for good fortune, and New Year's greetings in sequence.
In addition, the "Yaiso Sanga" group will offer warm tea to help citizens ward off the cold, and after the official ceremony, a variety of programs will be held, including sharing traditional New Year's food (tteokguk).
As side events, there will be a Byeongo Year photo zone, a New Year's wish ball-making activity, and a calligraphy event for wishes and family mottos, allowing families and couples to create special New Year memories.
Kim Nakgyun, President of the Yeongcheon Youth Sangwoo Association, which is hosting the event, said, "We will prepare to make this a meaningful event where Yeongcheon can further develop and grow, embracing the energy of the Red Horse in 2026," and added, "We ask for the active participation of all citizens."
