According to Gwangju Shinsegae on December 29, this field training program is designed to provide practical assistance to university students through hands-on activities focused on sales and marketing. A total of 12 students from local universities, including Chonnam National University and Chosun University, are participating.
Over the course of four weeks, the students will rotate through the marketing and sales departments, gaining real-world work experience and deepening their understanding of the distribution industry as a whole.
During the first week, participants will meet with professionals from sales and marketing departments to explore various job roles. In the second week, they will work alongside staff in customer-facing departments such as the customer consultation office to experience actual job tasks. The third week will be devoted to industry education and employment coaching, focusing on the distribution sector. In the final, fourth week, students will prepare and present individual portfolios, gaining practical know-how for the job application process.
The detailed program for Gwangju Shinsegae’s field training changes with each session. After each program, the company continuously upgrades the curriculum by reflecting feedback from participating students. For example, during the 2025 Summer Field Training, new training such as market response analysis through the creation of short-form content was introduced.
As positive feedback continues to grow regarding the program’s effectiveness in supporting employment, participating universities have requested that the number of selected students be increased. However, Gwangju Shinsegae has chosen not to expand the intake, prioritizing the maintenance of a high-quality training curriculum.
Since 2023, Gwangju Shinsegae has held field training programs twice a year, selecting 10 to 12 students for each session. Including the 2025 Winter Field Training, a total of 65 students have participated in the six programs to date.
Lee Donghoon, CEO of Gwangju Shinsegae, stated, "We will provide our fullest support so that students participating in the field training can deepen their understanding of the distribution industry and department stores over the four weeks, and pursue their dreams. We hope that this university student field training program will become a shortcut to dreams for the future leaders of the distribution industry."
