Social Service Jobs, Integrated Care, Basic Livelihood Security, and Disability Policy
Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju, announced on the 29th that it has received excellence awards in four categories in the Ministry of Health and Welfare’s regional welfare project evaluation. In the evaluation, which covered 229 cities, counties, and districts nationwide, Gwangsan-gu was recognized simultaneously in the areas of social service jobs, integrated medical and nursing care, basic livelihood security, and disability policy.
In the social service job creation category, the evaluation focused on the resident-led care system and the achievements of citizen-participatory job operations. Gwangsan-gu was the only basic local government in Gwangju and Jeonnam to receive the excellence award for two consecutive years. Through 14 social job projects, including the "1313 Neighbor Care" initiative, Gwangsan-gu supported 10,408 jobs this year.
In the integrated medical and nursing care support category, the operation of a dedicated organization centered on the "Gwangju+ Gwangsan-type Integrated Care" model and the identification of priority management targets through interdepartmental cooperation were reflected in the evaluation. Major policies from the eighth popularly elected administration, such as the Social Prescription Health Management Center and the nation’s first "Home Living Project," were also included in the evaluation.
In the basic livelihood security category, Gwangsan-gu was recognized for its achievements in identifying recipients and providing tailored support through an outreach welfare approach, earning the award for three consecutive years. In the disability policy category, Gwangsan-gu also received the excellence award for three consecutive years for its tailored policy operations supporting independence and social participation for people with disabilities.
An official from Gwangsan-gu stated, "Our efforts to improve citizens’ quality of life through welfare policies have been recognized," and added, "We will continue to enhance the completeness of our regional welfare policies."
