In his address, Jinwoo stated, “The root of conflict and confrontation in our society does not lie outside, but within each of our hearts.” He added, “In the new year, we need to pause our criticism of one another and take time to reflect on our own minds.” He went on to say, “When each of us finds peace within, the future of our society will become even brighter.”

He also pledged, “I will fulfill my responsibilities so that our society can once again move toward trust and empathy.” He continued, “As the leading order of Buddhism, we will remain by the people’s side as a source of comfort for the mind, and be a steadfast friend who holds the hands of the socially disadvantaged and marginalized neighbors.”

In closing, Jinwoo expressed his New Year’s wishes, saying, “In the Year of Byeongo, I hope we can lay down the flames of anger and kindle the fires of wisdom and compassion, so that we may warm each other’s hearts throughout the year.”
