Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dongyeon offered his condolences to the families of the victims and paid tribute to those lost on the first anniversary of the '12·29 Passenger Plane Disaster,' which claimed the precious lives of 179 people.
On the 29th, Governor Kim posted on his social networking service (SNS), stating, "With all my heart, I mourn each and every victim," and added, "I extend my deepest condolences to the bereaved families who are enduring immense sorrow and pain."
He continued, "At 9:02:57 a.m. on December 29, 2024, all lives came to a halt," and pointed out, "I have listened to the words of the bereaved families ahead of the first anniversary, and even though a year has passed, it is still not enough."

He emphasized, "A thorough investigation to uncover the truth, punishment for those responsible, and measures to prevent recurrence are duties that must be fulfilled for the victims and for those of us who remain," and added, "Most importantly, a transparent and swift investigation and sincere communication are needed to wipe away the tears of the bereaved families."
In particular, he stated, "Gyeonggi Province will stand with the bereaved families and their earnest wish that no one should ever suffer such pain again," and added, "On this day, which was so ordinary just a year ago, I pray for the peace of the 179 people who left our side."
