Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dongyeon offered his condolences to the families of the victims and paid tribute to those lost on the first anniversary of the '12·29 Passenger Plane Disaster,' which claimed the precious lives of 179 people.

On the 29th, Governor Kim posted on his social media, "With all my heart, I mourn each and every victim," and added, "I extend my deepest condolences to the bereaved families who are enduring immense sorrow and pain."

He continued, "At 9:02:57 a.m. on December 29, 2024, all lives came to a halt. I listened to the voices of the bereaved families ahead of the first anniversary, and even though a year has passed, it is still not enough."

He went on to stress, "A thorough investigation to reveal the truth, punishment of those responsible, and the establishment of measures to prevent recurrence are duties that must be fulfilled for the victims and for those of us left behind. Above all, what is needed most is a transparent and swift investigation and sincere communication to wipe away the tears of the bereaved families."

In particular, he added, "Gyeonggi Province will stand with the bereaved families and their earnest wish that no one else should ever suffer the same pain. On this day, which was so ordinary just a year ago, I pray for the peace of the 179 people who left our side."
