More than 40 people attended the agreement ceremony, including the heads of both local governments, the chairs and members of the Eunpyeong District Council and Paju City Council, and representatives from private organizations.
To commemorate the sisterhood, Eunpyeong District presented a commemorative plaque featuring Eunpyeong Hanok Village, while Paju City presented a commemorative plaque of the Gamaksan Suspension Bridge, reaffirming their mutual friendship. After the ceremony, attendees toured Jingwansa Temple, a thousand-year-old temple, and experienced temple cuisine.
Taking this sisterhood agreement as an opportunity, Eunpyeong District plans to seek exchange and cooperation with Paju City in various fields such as transportation, culture, and sports. In particular, based on improved accessibility due to the opening of the GTX line, the district will discuss exchanges in culture and recreational sports by utilizing Paju City’s unique features, such as peace and ecological resources in the DMZ area and the publishing complex.
Including Paju City, Eunpyeong District has established sisterhood agreements with a total of 16 local governments so far, continuing exchange activities based on mutual cooperation.
Kim Mikyung, Mayor of Eunpyeong District, said, "I look forward to exchange activities where the public and private sectors of both regions can cooperate in various fields," and added, "I hope the two cities will share a vision and develop together as partners."
