Ansan Badahyanggi Arboretum Extends Closing Hours for Year-End Sunset Visitors

Badahyanggi Arboretum, located on Daebudo Island in Ansan City, Gyeonggi Province, is emerging as a new sunset attraction on the west coast. For this year's sunset viewers, the arboretum will extend its closing time by one hour from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on December 30 and 31. The sunset on these days is expected at 5:30 p.m.

The observatory at Badahyanggi Arboretum offers optimal views of the West Sea, and on clear days, visitors can see as far as Asan Bay in Chungcheongnam-do.

Badahyanggi Arboretum is an ideal place for research and exhibition of temperate southern plants, and currently, proactive research on temperate southern and subtropical species is being actively conducted. In addition, the arboretum features a coastal and halophyte garden, where visitors can observe rare coastal plants such as Gaejeonghyangpul, which are difficult to find elsewhere.

This year, a 10-meter-tall Christmas tree called the "Wishing Tree" has been installed at the main entrance of Badahyanggi Arboretum, making it a unique photo spot. The Badahyanggi Exhibition Hall, which was remodeled from a former warehouse and opened to the local community and artists, is currently hosting the "Naru Atelier Members' Exhibition" until the end of the year, offering visitors a chance to appreciate distinctive artworks.

Kim Ilgon, Director of the Gyeonggi Forest Environment Research Institute, said, "I hope residents will spend the last day of the year at the arboretum observatory, enjoying the beautiful sunset and making wishes for the New Year."
