On Proposal to Include Shincheonji: "A Diluting and Distracting Tactic"
On this day, Han emphasized on his Facebook page, “The People Power Party should not only propose a special prosecutor for the Unification Church Gate, but also simultaneously initiate a special prosecutor for the abandonment of the Daejang-dong appeal and the impeachment of Minister of Justice Jeong Seongho.” This is interpreted as a call for the party to respond forcefully to the various gate-related allegations that have recently emerged.
In particular, Han directly targeted the “abandonment of the Daejang-dong appeal” incident. He stated, “Public outrage and suspicions regarding the abandonment of the appeal in the Daejang-dong case, which turned Kim Manbae’s group into conglomerates, have not been resolved at all,” and pointed out that there is already sufficient cause and evidence to impeach Minister of Justice Jeong Seongho, who is suspected of exerting external pressure at the time. Although the Democratic Party may try to block this move leveraging its large majority, Han argued that the party should secure public support through a justifiable fight during the process.
Additionally, Han sharply criticized the Democratic Party’s suggestion to include other religious groups, such as Shincheonji, in the scope of the Unification Church Gate special prosecutor. He described this as “diluting the essence and a stalling tactic,” and dismissed the idea by stating, “If an investigation into Shincheonji is necessary, it should be carried out by regular investigative agencies, not tacked onto the special prosecutor like a patchwork.”
