Jeonnam Province has begun strengthening the on-site response capabilities of city and county officials to proactively address agricultural disasters such as cold waves and heavy snowfall during the winter season.

Recently, Jeonnam Province conducted a "Winter Agricultural Disaster Damage Survey and Recovery Plan Establishment Training" for agricultural disaster officers from 22 cities and counties within the province. This was a practical training session aimed at ensuring accurate damage assessment and prompt recovery support in the event of a disaster.

The training analyzed past agricultural disaster cases based on winter weather forecasts and addressed preventive measures to reduce future damage. It also shared management guidelines and inspection methods for agricultural facilities that are frequently damaged in winter, such as greenhouses and orchards.

Additionally, the training explained response methods for each type of disaster using real-life cases, and reviewed the entire administrative process, including "farmers' damage report and reception procedures," "on-site damage assessment methods," and "recovery plan establishment and recovery fund support procedures."

The city and county officials who completed the training plan to provide additional education to local township and neighborhood officials, thereby strengthening the on-site response system.

Yu Deokgyu, Director of the Food and Horticulture Division of Jeonnam Province, stated, "For agricultural disasters, advance preparation and an initial response are crucial," adding, "We will enhance the response capabilities of city and county officials to reduce agricultural disaster damage during the winter."
