Full-Scale Preparations Begin for the 2026 Season
FC Mokpo has appointed Choi Younggeun, former head coach of Incheon United, as its sixth head coach through an open recruitment process.
FC Mokpo (Club Owner: Cho Seokhoon) announced that it has selected Choi Younggeun, who has extensive coaching experience ranging from youth teams to professional squads and possesses a deep understanding of the K3 League, as the new head of the team.
Choi Younggeun, the newly appointed head coach, is recognized as a hands-on leader who has coached both youth and professional teams. He gained professional experience as both head coach and chief coach at Incheon United. Notably, he also led Changwon City FC in the K3 League for several years, earning a reputation for his proficiency in managing the unique characteristics of the league and player operations.
Coach Choi is known for his attack-oriented tactical approach and his strength in developing young players. He is considered the right person to drive FC Mokpo’s mid- to long-term organizational improvement and competitive enhancement.
Choi Younggeun stated, "I am truly honored to take the helm of FC Mokpo," adding, "Together with the players, I will implement an aggressive and proactive style of football to build a team that citizens will enjoy watching at the stadium." He continued, "In 2026, I will do my utmost to ensure that FC Mokpo becomes a source of pride for the citizens of Mokpo through outstanding results."
Meanwhile, FC Mokpo plans to quickly finalize the coaching staff and player roster under the leadership of Choi Younggeun and begin full-scale preparations for the 2026 season.
