Mokpo City in South Jeolla Province has joined the Hope 2026 Sharing Campaign, organized by the Community Chest of Korea, by donating 10 million won in contributions collected from public officials, thereby participating in local sharing efforts.

According to the city, on December 26, public officials voluntarily raised a total of 10 million won, which was delivered to the Community Chest of Korea through Mokpo MBC.

This fundraising effort by public officials to help neighbors was conducted from November 25 to December 17, with a total of 1,051 public officials participating, coming together for a warm act of sharing. Every year, Mokpo City officials voluntarily take part in the campaign, consistently contributing to the care of neighbors and the spread of a culture of sharing within the community.

The Community Chest of Korea plans to use the funds collected through this sharing campaign for various welfare projects, including support for social welfare facilities, emergency aid for low-income households, and heating cost assistance, by allocating the funds at the local level.

Meanwhile, the "Love Thermometer Tower," which symbolically displays the year-end fundraising status, is a structure where the temperature rises by one degree for every one percent increase in the achievement rate toward the fundraising goal. When the goal is reached, the thermometer hits 100 degrees, visually representing the community’s enthusiasm for sharing.

A city official stated, "The voluntary participation of public officials is bringing warmth to the local community," and added, "We hope that with the active participation of citizens, the Love Thermometer Tower will surpass its target temperature." The official further commented, "In the new year, we hope everyone will pay closer attention to those around them and that sharing will become a part of daily life."

The Hope 2026 Sharing Campaign will continue until January 31 next year, and individuals, organizations, or groups wishing to participate can do so through the Jeonnam Community Chest of Korea.
