The special prosecutor team led by Min Jungki will summon and question the spouse of Kim Ki-hyun, a member of the People Power Party, on December 27 in connection with allegations that First Lady Kim Keon-hee received a luxury brand Roger Vivier bag from Kim's spouse.
On December 26, the special prosecutor's office announced, "We plan to summon and question Ms. Lee, the wife of Assemblyman Kim, regarding the 'Kim Keon-hee Roger Vivier bag bribery allegations.'
Ms. Lee is suspected of conspiring with Assemblyman Kim after his election as the People Power Party leader on March 8, 2023, to deliver a Roger Vivier clutch bag worth 2.6 million won to First Lady Kim Keon-hee.
On November 6, during a search and seizure of the residence of former President Yoon Suk-yeol and his wife, the special prosecutor's team discovered the clutch bag in question and a thank-you letter written by Ms. Lee. The team suspects that First Lady Kim mobilized members of the Unification Church to support Kim Ki-hyun's election as party leader in March 2022, and in return, received the bag as a reward.
In relation to these allegations, the special prosecutor's team conducted a search and seizure of Assemblyman Kim and his spouse on December 17 and summoned Ms. Lee for questioning as a suspect on December 5.
