Jang Donghyuk on Alliance with Han Donghoon and Lee Junseok: "Premature at This Time"

"It Is Time for the Party to Change and Become Stronger"
Possibility of Meetings with Lee Myungbak and Park Geunhye Also Considered

Jang Donghyuk, leader of the People Power Party, drew a line regarding the possibility of forming an alliance for the June 3 local elections next year with former leader Han Donghoon and Lee Junseok, leader of the Reform Party, stating on the 26th, "It is premature to discuss a concrete alliance at this time."

After completing volunteer activities with the Committee for Accompanying the Underprivileged in Dobong District, Seoul, Jang told reporters, "This is the first time I have heard about such an alliance," and added, "I recently spoke about change, and we have not yet presented a clear vision to the public on how the People Power Party will reform and transform." He emphasized, "Now is the time for the People Power Party to change and become stronger, rather than to discuss alliances."

Recently, former leader Han Donghoon praised Jang's 24-hour unlimited debate (filibuster), creating a thaw in relations, and Lee Junseok also reached out to Jang by mentioning a 'joint struggle' for a special investigation into the Unification Church. However, with about five months left until next year's local elections, Jang appears to be keeping his distance for now.

Regarding the possibility of meeting with former presidents Lee Myungbak and Park Geunhye, as well as former lawmaker Yoo Seungmin, Jang said, "I plan to meet with the party elders and former leaders who have guided the party before the end of the year," adding, "I intend to broaden our reach and strengthen the party through these actions."

However, he added, "Apart from the plan to meet with former presidents, I do not have any concrete plans regarding meetings with other individuals."

On the morning of the 26th, Jang participated in a street cleaning volunteer activity near the entrance to Dobongsan with environmental officials. Lawmakers such as Shin Dongwook and Kim Jaeseop, as well as Supreme Council members Kim Minsu and Yang Hyangja, also joined him.
