Apple Leads with 23% Market Share
With the strong performance of Apple and Huawei, it is projected that global smartwatch shipments will grow by 7% this year compared to last year.
On December 26, market research firm Counterpoint Research announced that global smartwatch shipments, which declined for the first time ever last year, are expected to rebound and grow by 7% this year.
In terms of market share, Apple is expected to lead with 23%, followed by Huawei at 18%, Xiaomi at 9%, and Samsung Electronics at 8%.
Looking at annual shipments by brand, Samsung Electronics is projected to see a 6% decrease compared to the previous year, while Huawei, Xiaomi, and Apple are expected to post increases of 42%, 22%, and 12%, respectively.
Counterpoint Research stated, "The introduction of new hardware and software features, the growing consumer preference for mid-range and premium smartwatches, and the industry's intensified focus on health-related features have all contributed to a significant shift in the global smartwatch market landscape." The firm also evaluated that "this recovery has been led by Huawei, with Apple's new lineup also contributing to the growth."
