"Boseong Clean 600" Recognized as a National Model Case
Boseong County in South Jeolla Province announced that it promoted the "New Look of Korea" National Land Cleanliness Campaign organized by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, received the National Best Institution Award in the Excellent Local Governments Evaluation, and secured a project fund of 100 million won.
The "New Look of Korea" campaign is a nationwide environmental improvement initiative in which all citizens-including central government agencies, local governments, local communities, and volunteers-participate together. As emphasized by President Lee Jaemyung during the Cabinet meeting on September 9, the campaign was carried out from September 22 to October 1 with the aim of improving living spaces and enhancing the national image.

For this evaluation, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety comprehensively reviewed all local governments nationwide, assessing resident participation, policy dissemination, and the effectiveness of living environment improvements.
Boseong County received high marks for proactively linking and expanding its own resident participation cleanliness campaign, "Boseong Clean 600: Creating a Healthy Boseong," with the New Look of Korea campaign.
In particular, 29,542 county residents from 600 villages voluntarily participated from August to September, carrying out large-scale environmental cleanups focused on key community spaces such as villages, rivers, marine areas, roads, and traditional markets, and successfully collecting a total of 536.5 tons of waste.
Additionally, through the "One Team Cleanliness Responsibility System," which involved village heads, women’s associations, volunteer groups, and the administration working together, Boseong County established systematic on-site operations and a sustainable management structure. By building a public-private cooperation participation model, the county was recognized as a model case for nationwide cleanliness campaigns.
Furthermore, Boseong County was recognized for its excellence in implementing impactful policies such as intensive cleanup activities linked to the New Look of Korea campaign and producing promotional videos for residents and staff, which helped foster public consensus and contributed to creating a clean and pleasant city image.
The 100 million won in project funds secured through this award will be used for future village environment improvement projects, maintenance of cleanliness-vulnerable areas, and the expansion of resident participation environmental policies.
Boseong County stated, "This National Best Institution Award is a valuable achievement made possible not only by the efforts of the administration but also by the voluntary participation of each and every resident. We will continue to promote cleanliness administration together with residents to make Boseong a better place to live."
