According to the city on December 26, this year's event also carries special significance as it commemorates the successful hosting of the Gyeongju APEC Korea and aims to strengthen ties with its sister city, Gyeongju.

The two cities will jointly host the event through a dual live broadcast, creating a meaningful stage for citizens to conclude 2025 and welcome 2026 together.

The festivities will begin at 9:00 p.m. with a "Winter Food Sharing" event for participants who wrote wish notes, followed by a pre-performance by the Baekje Military Band and the Municipal Pungmul Troupe, interviews and well-wishes from Iksan and Gyeongju citizens, a Baekje-Silla tribute exchange performance, a joint choir of citizens from both cities, and finally, the bell ringing and fireworks. A variety of programs will be offered for citizens to participate in and enjoy, adding to the excitement at the venue.

This bell ringing ceremony is open to all citizens, and for those unable to attend in person, the event will also be streamed live online, making it an inclusive year-end festival that brings together even more citizens.

As a large crowd is expected on the day of the event, the city is making thorough preparations for on-site management, including traffic control, deployment of safety personnel, and provision of convenience facilities. In cooperation with relevant agencies, a comprehensive response system is being established to ensure the event is conducted safely and orderly.

An official from the Iksan Cultural Tourism Foundation, which is organizing the event, stated, "This year's bell ringing ceremony is a special stage that embodies both cooperation between sister cities and the unity of citizens," adding, "We are meticulously preparing every aspect of the event so that citizens can participate safely and comfortably."

A city official commented, "This New Year's Eve Bell Ringing Ceremony is a symbolic occasion to celebrate the joint achievements of Iksan and Gyeongju and to share hope for the new year with citizens. We are putting our utmost effort into preparing so that everyone can start the Year of the Byeongo (2026) with warmth, and we ask for your keen interest and participation."
