Pusan National University College of Social Sciences Introduces the Power of Social Science to High School Students The College of Social Sciences at Pusan National University is hosting the "2nd Social Science Introduction and Interest Stimulation Program for High School Students" to highlight the importance of social science insights required in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and artificial intelligence. This event was organized for the second time, following the strong positive response to last year's inaugural program. More than 300 participants-including approximately 250 first- and second-year students from 18 high schools in the Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam regions, along with accompanying teachers and parents-attended the program. They had the opportunity to broaden their understanding of social science majors and explore potential career paths.

This year's program focused on emphasizing the role of social sciences in understanding humans and society, as well as the importance of ethical insight, alongside technological advancements in the age of artificial intelligence.

Participating students visited experience booths set up by the seven departments within the College of Social Sciences (Public Administration, Political Science and International Relations, Social Welfare, Sociology, Psychology, Library and Information Science, and Media & Communication). At each booth, they listened to introductions about each major and communicated directly with current students.

Each booth featured explanations tailored to the characteristics of each major, as well as hands-on activities and the use of specialized equipment. This allowed students to gain a vivid understanding of the academic content and provided an opportunity to clarify their aptitudes and career aspirations.

Jang Deokhyeon, Dean of the College of Social Sciences at Pusan National University, stated, "In an era of rapid change driven by artificial intelligence, social science insights that help us understand the complexity of humans and society and realize the value of coexistence are essential. This event was designed to allow high school students to experience the fascinating world of social sciences firsthand and to provide practical motivation for planning their future careers."

He added, "We will continue to institutionalize social science experience programs for high school students, foster creative talent, and faithfully fulfill our social role as a regional educational institution."
