Gochang County Named "Best Institution" in Local Price Stability Management Evaluation

Secured 40 Million Won in Special Fiscal Incentives

Gochang County in Jeonbuk was the only county-level area in the province to receive the highest grade, "Grade A," in the "2025 Local Price Stability Management Evaluation," earning the title of "Best Institution" and securing a special allocation of 40 million won in fiscal incentives.

According to the county on December 26, the evaluation, organized by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, assessed three categories and nine indicators from November of last year to October of this year. These included whether local public utility rates were frozen, support for Good Price Stores, the inflation rate of personal service fees, and the implementation of price stabilization efforts.

In particular, as the weighting for eradicating price gouging was increased, Gochang County earned the "Grade A" distinction, ranking in the top 5% among all counties evaluated.

Since the beginning of the year, the county has maintained public utility stabilization policies closely tied to residents' daily lives, such as freezing water rates and garbage bag prices, to help stabilize perceived prices.

Additionally, the county operated reporting centers at local festivals and tourist destinations during the holiday season to proactively combat price gouging. It also ran price stabilization campaigns and posted price information during holidays, providing residents with accurate pricing data to encourage rational consumption.

Gochang County received high marks for implementing various policies, including incentives for Good Price Stores, tailored support for each business sector, and discounts on Gochang Love Gift Certificates. The county also excelled in qualitative evaluations by continuously expanding the designation and use of Good Price Stores.

The governor of Gochang County stated, "Being selected as the best institution for price stability management was made possible not only by administrative efforts but also by the active cooperation of our residents. We will continue to do our utmost to ease the financial burden on residents, stabilize livelihoods, and revitalize the local economy."
