On December 26, Dongshin University announced that its Department of Emergency Medical Technology has been officially designated as a Basic Life Support (KBLS) training institution by the Korean Association of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, gaining recognition as a specialized cardiopulmonary resuscitation training center representing the northwestern region of Jeonnam.
With this designation, the Department of Emergency Medical Technology at Dongshin University will operate both basic and advanced KBLS training programs tailored to different groups, including healthcare professionals, undergraduate students, and the general public. In particular, the program for healthcare professionals will follow the same curriculum as the one provided for 25 healthcare professions managed by the Korea Health Personnel Licensing Examination Institute, thereby ensuring a high level of credibility.
The KBLS training program is based on the latest guidelines and is composed of hands-on, practice-oriented modules that reflect real clinical and field situations, including adult and pediatric cardiopulmonary resuscitation, automated external defibrillator (AED) usage, airway obstruction response, and team-based cardiac arrest management. Those who complete the training will receive a certificate of completion from the Korean Association of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, which is highly valued in medical and public institutions.
Dongshin University has continuously operated practical training and community-linked programs to nurture emergency medical professionals, and with this new designation as a KBLS training institution, it is expected to play a pivotal role in strengthening the regional healthcare safety network.
Kim Sehun, head of the Department of Emergency Medical Technology at Dongshin University, stated, "This designation as a KBLS training institution is an official recognition of Dongshin University's educational capabilities and field-oriented training system. We aim to establish ourselves as the hub for life safety education in the northwestern region of Jeonnam by providing systematic cardiopulmonary resuscitation training not only for healthcare professionals but also for university students and the general public."
