On the 26th, the commission announced that complaints related to cold wave preparedness for vulnerable groups, collected through the civil complaint information analysis system, rose from 343 cases in 2022 to 579 cases last year, a 1.7-fold increase. The main complaints included demands for expanded heating cost support for vulnerable groups, calls for the expansion of facilities to prepare for cold waves, and requests to address gaps in support coverage.
As related complaints are expected to continue through February next year, the commission has issued a civil complaint advisory and suggested directions for improvement to relevant agencies, including strengthening the effectiveness of heating cost support for vulnerable groups, minimizing gaps in support, and enhancing the operation and management of facilities for cold wave preparedness.
Meanwhile, according to the commission, the total number of civil complaints in November was approximately 1.13 million, a 7.2% decrease compared to September (about 1.22 million). In October, it was difficult to collect related complaint data due to the suspension of the e-People system following a fire at the National Information Resources Service. The region with the largest increase in complaints compared to September was Sejong (up 14.0%), with the majority related to illegal parking reports.
The commission regularly analyzes complaint data and publishes the results on the "Civil Complaint Big Data at a Glance" website, making it easily accessible to the public.
